Tau Game Lodge - Your Stay in Madikwe Game Reserve

Tau Game Lodge has 30 thatched chalets arranged in a U-shape around the waterhole. Each chalet includes a private viewing deck, en suite bathroom, and open-air shower. Standard chalets sleep two adults. Deluxe chalets are double size and can hold two adults plus two children. Family units and suites have interleading rooms for larger groups. Five Private Members Suites feature themed decor and private decks. All chalets have air-conditioning and ceiling fans.

Breakfast and lunch are buffet-style in the main building or lapa, overlooking the waterhole. Dinners are served in a boma under the stars or in the lapa. The bar is stocked with drinks, and special diets are arranged when told in advance. Reviews praise the food quality, variety of meats, and vegetarian options. Some herbs and vegetables come from the lodge's garden.

Twice-daily game drives with qualified rangers are included. Game walks are available on request. Tau has two swimming pools: an infinity pool near the Game Viewing Lounge and a plunge pool. The spa offers body treatments; the Intonga massage is often highlighted. The Cubz Club keeps children occupied with a playroom, babysitting, and short safaris. The curio shop sells gifts, clothing, and equipment.

Tau is in the malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve, the fourth largest in South Africa. It is a 4-hour drive from Johannesburg via the N4 and R49, or a 50-minute scheduled flight to Madikwe Airstrip. Transfers from the airstrip are free if the flight is booked through Tau. The reserve borders Botswana, and Tau is a 2-hour drive from Sun City. Park entry costs R180 per person.

The conference centre has 270 m2 with three sub-halls, projectors, and motorized blinds. The wedding venue hosts up to 60 people and offers a bush ceremony option. Child services include the Cubz Club, paid babysitting, and early dinners. The lodge supports local schools and runs the Tau Tree Fund. One chalet is wheelchair accessible, and parking is free. Security operates 24 hours.
